Although I’ve never been to Ukraine, I wanted to give voice to the Hopak empathy (a folk dance typical of the country) with the help of electronics. I composed the melody by reworking some samples of viola, thanks to the kind help of Patrick Murphy - a music teacher from West Lafayette, Indiana who caught my attention during an ethnomusicology class. The rhythmic line, built on sampling the heartbeat of a fetus about to be born, refers to the most varied percussive traditions: from Europe to the Caribbean and Africa. As if a unison rhythm wanted to come to life to support the melody of this country. Among the reverberations of this ‘peace beat’ appears a voice recorded in the tropics. It’s a prayer containing a good omen: the cry of the Goddess Yemaya, mother of life and creation in the Afro-Caribbean tradition.

Pur non essendo mai stato in Ucraina, ho voluto dar voce all'empatia dell' Hopak (danza popolare tipica di quel paese) tramite l'ausilio dell'elettronica.
Ho composto il tema melodico rielaborando alcuni samples di viola, grazie alla  gentile collaborazione di Patrick Murphy (un insegnante di musica di West Lafayette, Indiana) che ha rapito la mia attenzione durante delle lezioni di etnomusicologia.
La linea ritmica, costruita sul campionamento del battito cardiaco di un feto in procinto di nascere, fa riferimento alle piщ svariate tradizioni percussive: dall'Europa, ai Caraibi sino all'Africa. Come se un ritmo all'unisono volesse prendere vita per sostenere la melodia di questo paese.
Tra i riverberi di questo - battito di pace - compare una voce registrata ai tropici, si tratta di una preghiera  contenete il grido di buon auspicio della Dea Yemaya, madre della vita e della_ _creazione nella tradizione Afro-Caraibica.
